New Jersey Census online research should begin with what is available online for free. If this proves fruitful then congratulations! If not, then I would suggest signing up for the online census images (links to the right) where you can access all the available online New Jersey census information directly from your computer at home.
New Jersey’s Census covers all census between 1800-1920. There are some known problems with the AISI indices that Ancestry and others use as a basis for their census:
- 1830 index shows Atlantic for Bergen County entries.
- 1850 index doesn’t include the township of Winslow, Camden County.
- 1860 index excludes parts of Middlesex County.
1800
Cumberland County New Jersey is the only New Jersey county appearing within the 1800 census.
