Union Brick Cemetery, Blairstown

Union Brick Cemetery is located north of Union Brick Road, on the west side of Heller Hill Road, between Hope and Blairstown in Warren County. Snell, in the History of Warren and Sussex Counties, page 652-653, mentions the burial ground in what was then School District #72 and gives a partial list of inscriptions.

These inscriptions were copied and checked by members of the Genealogical Society of New Jersey on a Tombstone Hunt in July of 1962. The inscriptions have been consolidated into family groups. An asterisk (*) after a name indicates that the person and the relationship were given in an inscription, but no gravestone was found for the person.

Note: Margaret Vaughan Wallace made a trip to Union Brick Cemetery in October 2001. She writes that all the incidences of the name “Vaughn” below are spelled “Vaughan” (with a second “a”) on the headstones. Margaret is a direct descendant of Dinah and the Reverend Daniel Vaughan, and their son John whose headstone is not in the cemetery.
